SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

I work with individuals to help them gain insight into the beliefs and behaviors that are preventing them from living a peaceful, fulfilling life. I specialize in the areas of eating disorders, trauma, drug and alcohol addiction, depression and anxiety. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to share their story and reflect on their life. I strive to empower my clients to become their own advocates and work to promote their mind/body wellness. Together, we explore new and different ways of thinking to allow their authentic self to emerge and thrive in a rewarding way. I work with individuals to help them learn how to process their emotions in a healthy, productive way.

DEPRESSION

In order to effectively treat patients who are suffering from depression, I strive to form an environment of unconditional positive regard and to assess their individual needs. To do this, I use a combination of evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy to help them gain insight into their own experiences and to accept the freedom of choice that comes with life. This approach allows them to understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to create positive change and develop healthier coping strategies.

FAMILY THERAPY

As a family, we can benefit from family therapy. It provides us with a safe environment to explore our interactional patterns that may be preventing us from thriving. As a family therapist, I will help  identify and understand how your beliefs and behaviors impact each other. With improved communication, I can guide your family through the process of healing from past struggles and helping create positive interactional patterns that will nourish our growth as a family.

we are not our disorders;  We learn behaviors growing up and now use these disorders as a way to cover up painful feelings. Most of these are learned in a family environment and need to be unlearned in a family environment.

ADDICTION

For the past 25 years, I have been paving the way for individuals seeking recovery from eating disorders. I have been the Clinical Director and Program Director of five different drug and alcohol and rehab centers throughout Orange County and San Diego. My expertise in the field of eating disorder treatment is further highlighted by my own personal recovery from anorexia and bulimia. Currently, I am in private practice in Newport Beach, where I specialize in the treatment of individuals with eating disorders. I am dedicated to helping individuals find the path to recovery that works best for them. Whether through one-on-one counseling, support groups, nutritional guidance, or any other form of treatment, I am committed to providing the highest level of care in order to help individuals overcome their eating disorder.

ANXIETY

Anxiety is an overwhelming emotion that can occur when we allow our minds to drift away from the present moment and become overwhelmed with worries about the future. Living in the present moment is the key to overcoming and managing anxiety. By learning to be mindful and grounded in the present, we can begin to let go of our worries, reduce stress, and be our best selves. Let me show you how to tap into this powerful resource and find true peace and contentment.

STRESS AND TRAUMA

The only way to cope with trauma is to walk through it from a safe place on the patients time.  I never give up on the most difficult of patients.  Even planting a seed and have it grow later on down the line in that persons life is a job well done for me.  This is a process, not an event

ANGER
Anger therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals identify and manage their anger in healthy ways. It involves learning new skills to cope with anger-provoking situations, understanding the sources of anger, and developing strategies to reduce and prevent it. It may also involve relaxation techniques and increasing self-awareness and self-esteem.
